Review : A great overclocker
It would have been useful for Amazon to state which revision of the Athlon 64 3200+ they are selling. The "Venice" core is the latest and greatest version with an improved memory controller and staggering overclocking potential. The Venice uses a 90nm manufacturing process (if you've been shopping for a graphics card as well, this will be familiar info) meaning that it requires less power but can run at higher clock speeds. All Venice core CPU's are cut from the same die too. This means that this very cheap CPU can be clocked at a speed equivalent to or beyond that of its more expensive siblings. It is pretty widely reported that a Venice 3200+ can safely be clocked at 2.7ghz using just air cooling, which is faster than most CPU's in the Athlon range.
