After a lot of research I opted for the ASUS Xonar D1 sound card & pleased I did as it works a treat with Win7 64-bit. Great sound, excellent Audio Center software for mixing & effects, & works perfectly with my Logitech 5.1 speaker system. The driver software on the CD included in the box worked but didn't provide true 5.1 sound so I jumped on the ASUS support page & downloaded the correct driver for W7/64. Driver install worked first time without trouble & after a restart of my PC the rich surround sound came to life as it should.
As with my experience, if you're currently doing research on which sound card to go with for W7/64 & just not sure because of conflicting information & opinions don't hesitate to go with this card - it works 100%.
