Like other Seagate drives this is a small and compact unit which is quite light. Not exactly pocket-sized, but not much bigger than a smart phone. This one comes in a nice brushed metallic finish on one side.

It comes with reasonable packaging and instructions, but it was very much as described : "plug and play". You just connect the short cable provided, to the drive and then to the USB port on your laptop. You don't even need power, as this is drawn from the laptop.

Windows recognises it straight away, the small white light comes on and you have just under 1TB of space available. No fuss and no bother, like other Seagate drives this has been one of the simplest products I have ever used.

The selling point of this model though, is as "a portable backup to your digital life" - by which they mean it includes software loaded onto the drive, which you can install - takes about 5 minutes. This gives you the "Seagate Dashboard" which has big, one-click...
